Melodic Music Monday: May 4

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

The Kid LAROI, “I CONDEMN” – Months after the release of BEFORE I FORGETThe Kid Laroi reopened the wound with its deluxe edition, expanding on his heartache with nine new songs that add even more texture to an already emotional arc. The deluxe’s leading single “I CONDEMN” features producers star boy (Lil Uzi Vert, DaBaby), Outtatown (Baby Keem, Playboi Carti), and Ken Carson (Travis Scott, Yeat), offering sharp production that carries through the remaining eight tracks.

– Shauna Hilferty

——

Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter, “Bring Your Love” – When Madonna joined Sabrina Carpenter on stage during weekend 2 of Coachella last month, audiences were ecstatic. What sent the crowd even more into a fever was the two performing a new, unreleased song together. Now, that song, “Bring Your Love,” has finally been released, with the single being a perfect new addition to club music playlists.

– Ezra Kendrick

——

Estella Dawn, “Thanks For Asking” – “Thanks For Asking” — the title, punchline, and thesis of the track — implies this secret, almost humiliating longing for a love lost to return, for someone who left to come back, while telling everyone you don’t want that at all. It sounds as if she is rehearsing for a conversation that she knows won’t happen, stuck in her own delusions and pretensions.

– August Nguyen

——

Matt Hansen, “SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN” – That exact vulnerability of documenting his everyday life is part of what’s made his music resonate so widely. He has surpassed the billion stream mark on Spotify, with his album’s lead single “SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN” sitting comfortably at 5.5 million streams. Not to mention his Instagram or TikTok, which is frequently home to videos of Hansen showcasing his powerful vocals while outdoors.
