Hangar 1819 in Greensboro, North Carolina, became the center of the metalcore scene on July 28 as A Word Alive brought their Deceiver & Dark Matter Tour to a packed venue. After Code Words and Downswing primed the crowd with two solid opening sets, the energy inside the room reached another level when Not Enough Space stepped onto the stage.
From the opening notes of “Eye 4 an Eye” and Weaponize Your Rage,” Not Enough Space‘s pit opened within minutes and fans along the barricade screamed every lyric back at the band. At the center of it all were vocalists Liv and Lizzie, whose chemistry and contrasting styles gave Not Enough Space a commanding presence throughout the entire performance. Liv effortlessly moved between melodic passages and punishing metalcore screams while Lizzie matched that intensity with powerful vocals and an equally strong stage presence, with the two constantly feeding off each other’s energy.
The momentum continued with “Devil Left Me on Read,” a standout moment that highlighted the band’s ability to balance melody with crushing heaviness. Just when the audience expected a breather, Liv smiled and told everyone they were about to slow things down. The room settled for only a second before she shouted, “Psych!” and burst into laughter as the band launched into one of the heaviest songs of the night.
Not Enough Space never let that momentum fade. “Mayday,” “Kill Eat Repeat,” and the crushing closer “Primitive” capped off a set that felt far too short. Before leaving the stage, the band thanked everyone for showing up and invited fans to stop by their merch table after the show to hang out, take photos, and talk.
With each tour, Not Enough Space continues to prove they belong on bigger stages. Their musicianship is tight, their chemistry is undeniable, their ability to command a room makes them one of the most exciting young bands in modern metalcore.
