Hunter Metts Releases A Perfect Rainy Day Song With “Don’t Fail Me Now”

Date:

Franklin, Tennessee, native Hunter Metts, an indie folk artist known for his soulful vocals and earnest songwriting, has just released his latest single “Don’t Fail Me Now.” Growing up in a musical family, Metts started playing piano at age ten before transitioning to guitar and songwriting. Influenced by artists like Bon Iver, The Paper Kites, and Novo Amor, his music seamlessly blends emotive vocals, poignant lyrics, and acoustic guitar melodies.

“Don’t Fail Me Now”, the focus track from Metts’ new EP Monochrome released on June 28th, offers listeners an introspective journey through the ebbs and flows of human experience. Written and recorded in his rustic mid-century cabin in Tennessee, Metts delves deep into themes of relationships, faith, and self-discovery. His voice, effortlessly reminiscent of Bon Iver, carries a poignant sadness, perfectly suited for introspective moments like a rainy drive with sleeping friends in the backseat.

The track begins with the evocative line, “Lay me down by the riverside, right next to your roses / Overgrown since the last time, I think we both may know it”, setting the stage for a melancholic yet beautiful exploration of past relationships and unspoken understandings. The song’s acoustic-driven soundscape, coupled with Metts’ haunting vocals, creates a deeply moving experience for the listener.

Hunter Metts, who recently signed with BMG for publishing, continues to carve out a niche for himself in the indie folk genre. He has previously released several independent tracks such as “Nothing to Lose” and “Paper Moon”, showcasing his talent for blending personal storytelling with memorable melodies. Collaborating with artists like Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Chandler Leighton, and Jonah Kagen, Metts’ songwriting prowess and emotive performances stand out in the contemporary music scene.

In celebration of the release of “Don’t Fail Me Now”, Metts shared his excitement on Instagram, inviting fans to listen and share their thoughts:

“We are thrilled to share ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’ with you all. It’s a deeply personal track that means a lot to me. Listen wherever you get your music and let us know what you think in the comments.”
