In the midst of perhaps their heaviest sonic era yet, Black Veil Brides continue to dominate the rock world through their inescapable musical brutality. Ahead of their upcoming studio album VINDICATE, out May 8 via Spinefarm Records, Black Veil Brides share the album’s latest single “Revenger,” featuring Machine Head. The seventh track to arrive ahead of the record, “Revenger” follows previous album singles such as “Certainty,” “Hallelujah,” and “Bleeders.”
Serving as a definitive preview of the band’s new album, “Revenger” explores the morally gray area that comes with seeking vengeance. Speaking on the song, frontman Andy Biersack says writing the piece allowed him to explore this internal conflict through the eyes of someone else.
“I have always been interested in the sort of ethical dilemma that we have culturally of cheering for justice,” Biersack says. “I thought it would be an interesting exercise to write lyrics from the perspective of someone who is trying to seek out the ultimate form of justice. Because I was writing from someone else’s voice, this felt like the kind of song that would be best served by having someone else’s voice on the song. So, we brought in Robb Flynn of Machine Head. The reason he came to mind first was of course his voice, tonality and style I thought was perfect for this. He is also someone who was one of the first real defenders of Black Veil Brides. In the early days when we were getting absolutely shit on by every other metal band, Robb Flynn and Machine Head stood up for us and said positive things about us and has maintained that for years and years. I think it’s one of my favorite songs on the record.”
Soon to be their seventh full-length studio album, VINDICATE continues to expand upon Black Veil Brides’ signature heavy metal sound. Forever maintaining an artistry fueled by both vulnerability and ferocity, the band continues to excite the modern rock scene while remaining true to the fearlessness and darkly poetic musicality that made them modern day rock legends.
The group is currently on tour across North America this spring, playing with support from From Ashes To New, As December Falls, and TX2. This summer they will tour across Europe and the U.K. for the VINDICATOUR, before wrapping up the year with performances at Vans Warped Tour and Louder Than Life this fall.
