Double trouble was made recently as famed alternative artist Jutes released two singles for his upcoming album, Chin Up, Beautiful, set to release on August 5. The 13-track album will also feature pre-released singles “Icarus” and “Disassociate.”
The double feature includes single “Mannequin,” performed by the artist at various tour stops long before its official release, and “Goodnight (Interlude) <3.” Both songs are incredibly diverse in terms of the stylistic choices the singer dedicates himself to perfecting.
“Mannequin,” with its accompanying music video, feels like a dark, romantic waltz with its soft-hearted lyrics and explosive breakdown towards the middle and end of the song. Jutes shares more about the song:
“Mannequin is about this toxic desire to be seen and loved by people you don’t even know. Losing yourself and becoming whatever it is they want to see.”
In contrast, “Goodnight (Interlude) <3” carries a whole new sensual soundscape. Something akin to a sexy R&B single from Chase Atlantic with its electrifying bass, Jutes’ experimentation knowns no boundaries. Jutes had this to say about the grunge-soaked interlude:
“goodnight (interlude) <3 is about escaping that feeling by using substances or sex. It’s about having a good night in the midst of a broken life.”
In addition to the album release, Jutes is also gearing up for his next US tour in August: Smile, You’re on Tour. This tour will include special guests In Color and MOTHICA alongside WILT for select stops. Tickets are on sale now here.
