almost a.m. releases new high-energy single “Helicopter Head”

Date:

The rising indie/alternative trio made up of two brothers and their cousin, almost a.m., returns with “Helicopter Head” — a high-energy track that perfectly captures the feeling of existential insanity. Now based in Nashville, the band has blended synth-driven indie rock with introspective lyricism.

“Helicopter Head,” following the release of “Revenge Bedtime Procrastination,” sits comfortably among artists like Royel Otis, little image and COIN, with its infectious melodies and dynamic production. The track thrives on its swirling instrumentation, layering shimmering guitars and pulsing rhythm. The chorus, with its repetition of “I’m a helicopter, helicopter head”, feels like a dizzying mantra, reinforcing the song’s chaotic energy.

The song explores the relentless cycle of overthinking and uncertainty, painting vivid imagery of mental exhaustion. Lines like “I don’t know where I’m going, neither do you” and “I’m a movie with no trailer and no sequel” evoke a sense of aimlessness, while the contrast between “I want it like a deer wants headlights” and “I hate it like a speaker hates silence” underscores the inner turmoil. The track effortlessly balances this emotional weight with an upbeat, almost danceable sound — an approach that makes the chaos feel strangely cathartic.
