For the past few years, Sophie Powers has brought her avant-garde sound to her fans who are more than here for it. She pairs this hyper-punk/power-pop sound with a bold style to match, immersing listeners in a world full of neon, ribbons, hearts, 8-bit characters, and more. Her unconventional approach to music and visuals has caught the attention of tastemakers like Alternative Press and Kerrang!, the latter of which called her, “the next poster girl for femme attitude in alt music.” This is a title that she is proud to embrace and incorporate into her narrative, ready to revolutionize the pop landscape. For now, though, Sophie is revolutionizing her own aesthetic by trading in her “bubblegum” persona for one that is darker and edgier.

With “move with me,” Sophie steps into a new chapter. The track is speedy and technical, aligning with a sound that fans have heard from her in the past. It is as we are placed in a modern and digital-sounding world, as Sophie gives us straightforward vocals and lyrics that get right to the point. Amongst the beats and pings, she sings, “When you look at me / Don’t know what you see / We don’t need to talk about it / I don’t wanna speak / Meet me in the dark / There’s no place I’d rather be / You know that I love it when you move with me.”

Elaborating on “move with me,” Sophie explains,

“It’s becoming harder and harder to find someone who seamlessly fits into our busy lives. As a music artist, fashion designer, and 20-year-old bisexual ‘girlboss,’ my hectic schedule has made dating feel impossible–but it’s not just me. My generation values independence over tradition. Finding a partner isn’t a necessity, but it’s still nice to meet someone who just gets you–who can keep up and move with you.”
