Australian psych-pop visionaries Babe Rainbow (Angus Dowling, Jack ‘Cool-Breeze’ Crowther and Dr Elliot “Love Wisdom” O’Reilly) are back with their most kaleidoscopic offering yet. The band has announced their new album, Slipper Imp and Shakaerator, set for release on April 4th via King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s freshly launched label, p(doom) Records. This marks an exciting new chapter for both Babe Rainbow and the label, following the release of their closing single of 2024.
The 11-track album promises to be a genre-melting adventure, blending lysergic riffs, 1980s synth-funk grooves, and a dash of the band’s signature playful wit.
To tease the upcoming release, Babe Rainbow has shared their vibrant new single, “Like cleopatra,” an ode to Cameo-style 80s funk filtered through their psychedelic lens.
“When our neighbor Tam’s cows dried themselves up, and we had to wait for one of the cows named Mary to have her calf to have fresh milk, we were buying ‘Cleopatra’s Bath Milk.’ This might explain the theme of ‘Like cleopatra.’ Drink deep or taste not,” says the band.
