BoyWithUke, the stage name for Korean-American artist Charley Yang, has announced his forthcoming record, Burnout, scheduled for release on Nov. 8 via AWAL Recordings after leaving Mercury Records. This marks his final record under the BoyWithUke moniker and invites a new era of music for the songwriter.
Initially, Yang first came to prominence on TikTok with his singles “Two Moons”, released in 2021, and “Understand”, released in 2022.
BoyWithUke’s final album is led by singles, “Can You Feel It?” and most recently, “Ghost”, along with the announcement.
“Ghost”, the latest track, is a unique blend of R&B, dark ambient and alternative rock, allowing listeners a peek into BoyWithUke’s most authentic self. On “Ghost,” BoyWithUke said: “‘Ghost’ has some of my favorite productions. It’s also the first time we used live drums. Overall the song is very dynamic, with changes in energy happening as often as possible.”
Yang elaborated on Burnout:
“’Burnout’ to me is music that most closely resembles who I am right now. Creating it filled me with so much joy, excitement, anxiety, and pain. It is everything I have left in the tank as BoyWithUke, and I am so proud.”
In a press statement, it was revealed that BoyWithUke will explore Yang’s journey as and beyond “the boy with the mask”.
