Corella’s “I Didn’t Know Your Name” is a shining gem

Corella‘s newest track, “I Didn’t Know Your Name,” emerges as a shining gem in their debut album, Once Upon A Weekend. Riding on the momentum of their previous hit singles like “Lady Messiah”, “Don’t Stop Me”, and “Head Under Water,” which garnered substantial airplay on BBC Radio 1, Corella seems poised for even greater heights with this anthemic track.

Thematically, the track jumps into toxic relationships, capturing the desire to rewind time to a point of innocence and start anew. From the moment the drums kick in, the song builds an irresistible momentum. The band expresses their anticipation to perform it live during their upcoming tour.

“We were determined not to make a middle-of-the-road indie record, but equally, we still wanted to make something that made people feel good, that they’d love listening to,” Ben says. He and Joel share songwriting responsibilities: “We’re really like-minded, and I guess formed a bond straight away – we clicked instantly,” says Joel.

The band’s dynamic legacy in the UK’s new music scene receives further reinforcement with this album. Overflowing with indie-rock anthemsmade for festival stages, Corella stakes their claim as one of the most promising acts of the year.

With three sold-out UK headline tours under their belt and a slew of festival appearances, including Reading & Leeds, Latitude, Kendal Calling, and Neighbourhood Festivals, Corella has solidified their reputation as a must-see live act.
