Girlpool returns with the beautiful, woozy “Faultline”

Date:

We last heard from beloved Los Angeles duo Girlpool when they released the one-off “Like I’m Winning It” last year, with listeners having waited for a new full-length since 2019’s What Chaos is Imaginary. Today, the duo of Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad have unveiled a music video for the new single “Faultline”, and it is a tantalizing preview of whatever’s to come.

“Faultline” is a Tividad-led song that lyrically dives into deep self-inspection from the first lines: “Every day it’s Friday night / I hold my body like a butcher knife / Smiling for the camera eyes closed / Doing anything you ask I suppose.” As the song rotates around drum programing and a shimmering Roland synth, Tividad finds herself on the titular faultline “Between the edge of solitude and hope”. This is really good stuff, and hopefully, we’ll get more from Girlpool in 2022. Check out the lovely music video directed by the band and Julian Klincewicz below.
