Riot Fest 2026: Lineup drop incoming, ticket warning, and free VIP passes

Riot Fest began in 2005, cultivated from a chaotic weekend at Chicago’s Congress Theater. The building was struggling, and most of the festival equipment was held together by duct tape and grit, but Riot Mike’s mom made brownies for artist catering, and the community was strong enough to flourish. Despite the occasional rat dropping from the ceiling into the mosh pit, this DIY approach propelled the team forward to eventually book notable acts like The Replacements, Danzig, and The Misfits.

This middle-finger approach to the modern-day festival has blossomed into a massive, brilliantly chaotic outdoor spectacle occurring annually in Chicago’s Douglass Park. With its multi-stage setup, carnival rides, and thousands of fans bringing an inexplicable energy for their favorite subculture bands, the festival remains fiercely Chicago, keeping a self-aware sense of humor and taking a bold approach to every element of the production.

Who can say what the 2026 Riot Fest lineup will look like? We can tell you it is coming very soon—like this Thursday, May 28, at 10:00 AM CDT soon. The festival took to social media to announce the official announcement date, along with a forewarning that presale tickets are almost entirely gone. Once the lineup is announced, prices will increase. Get yours now, or follow the instructions below to win a pair of 3-Day VIP passes.
