OAKLND drops candid indie single “the summer”

Date:

Indie-pop artist OAKLND has released his newest track “the summer.”

“the summer” is acoustic forward with western-style guitar and live drums, giving it a live music feel. The track explores a fractured relationship that has come to an end and the feelings that arise when you see that person again. In this song, OAKLND is candid about how conflicted he feels about the encounter, which occurs in the summer. As the emotions subside, OAKLND wishes that the past partner “has a nice life.”

OAKLND shares more about the inspiration for “the summer”:

“I wrote this after I finished watching ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty.’ There was just something I found so inspiring about the storyline and how they tell it and I really wanted to try and capture that in a song, something that felt like it could be on the soundtrack for the show.”
