Lostboycrow reflects on growth and change on “Shake On It”

Date:

Known for his captivating voice, distinctive R&B flair, alternative vibe and airtight songwriting, Lostboycrow (Chris Blair) is letting his carefree attitude guide him completely on “Shake On It.”

Blair, a Los Angeles-based alt-pop artist, has also announced his upcoming fourth studio album, The Sound of God Laughing, scheduled for release on April 18, 2025. Written and recorded alongside Sam Beresford (known for working with Bowling League), the album is all about letting go, creative freedom and creating new worlds.

The Sound Of God Laughing will also feature his recent singles, including “Dark Comedy Magic” (feat. Jillian Rossi), “Dirty Dancing” (feat. DYSN) and “Summer Boy.” He elaborates:

“I’d love for people to step inside of these songs. The process of this last year was about getting back to the music at its core. With this album, the sound opened itself back up to experimentation. We weren’t limited by any parameters. I’m appreciating a lot of different styles and influences. It’s not just one vibe. It was fun to kind of just roll up my sleeves and be a kid again.”

On “Shake On It,” Blair reflects on personal growth. He acknowledges that even though he’s moving forward, better than before, he is still haunted by past memories or emotional baggage (“I can’t take you with me / You’re still with me everywhere”).

In a press release, Blair elaborated on the new single, sharing:

“That was one of the songs where I felt like I needed to get out of the way of the music. It didn’t need to be overcomplicated. There is a real sense of self and existence in it.”

The song is about being able to do absolute anything, as Blair addresses how he has changed (“I’m changing right in front of you today” and “I’m not that kid I used to blame”). He realizes that, even though he wants to move on, his past is something he can’t easily leave behind.
