Singer-songwriter Jake Minch has announced his debut album, George, on Friday afternoon.
The 22-year-old singer and songwriter announced the forthcoming project, set for release on July 11. Alongside the news, the single “Fingers and Clothes” is now available, and a music video went live earlier at 3 p.m.
The Connecticut-based artist has recently signed to Mercury Records and has garnered millions of streams with his deeply personal lyrics on love, growing up and grief.
Minch came onto the scene in 2023 with “handgun,” which garnered about 1.3 million views. The song is about bridging the gap between being a kid and an adult — a theme that has become a staple in the singer’s music.

Minch said that the song came after he quit smoking cigarettes successfully after what he calls multiple “failed attempts.” He said that he walked into a room feeling like he smelled of cigarettes, lay down next to his romantic partner and had them ask, “Do you still like the person you had a crush on in high school?”
“‘Fingers and Clothes’ uses my bad cigarette habit as a metaphor for my love life,” Jake says. “I’d tell people I wasn’t smoking, then I’d go to a party and have one, then another, then I’d buy a pack and tell the person I was dating ‘no I quit cigarettes!’ but I smelled like a Marlboro Red. The craving for cigarettes creeped back into my life, just like feelings for my old crush did—and both habits infiltrated my first adult relationship.”
The album was recorded and produced between Los Angeles and Connecticut by Minch and Tony Berg (Taylor Swift, boygenius) with contributions from Mason Stoops (Lizzy McAlpine, Role Model). The 12-track album, George, sees the alternative singer facing grief, guilt and identity.
George — named after the singer’s birth name — captures what it’s like to grow up and leave home.
