Alternative rock group Good Kid has released their newest upbeat single, “Wall,” a catchy, bittersweet tune that looks back on a past relationship that has come to a close.
About the new single, the band shares:
“*’Wall’ is a story about running into your ex —*the ex. It’s about putting up walls, pretending you’re fine, even though a simple encounter at a vintage clothing shop can stir up everything you thought you left behind. […] This is the most uninhibited and unfiltered we’ve ever been, we wanted the song to feel alive, even imperfect, because that’s what makes them real.”
Leading up to the single’s release, the band hosted an online contest for one lucky winner to become the animator for their music videos. The final product was created by contest winner Xray Alpha Charlie, exploring the adventures of friendship through the whimsical lens of animation.
Good Kid explains,
“Working again with animator Xray Alpha Charlie, we wanted ‘Wall’ to feel like an anime opening for our universe, a mix of friendship, music, and everyday life in ‘Neo-TO’, until everything suddenly unravels. As a band, we grew up obsessed with animated series and anime…the way they could make you believe in impossible worlds and the people fighting to protect them. ‘Wall’ is our way of capturing the joy, the stakes, and the magic of the anime we grew up on.”
The fully independent band recently achieved GOLD certification in Canada for their viral breakout single “From The Start,” with an impressive 700 million streams across their discography, 2.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and two JUNO nominations, including 2024 Breakthrough Group of the Year.
What sets Good Kid apart from the rest is their ability to connect with and be there for their fans, and strive to become “the world’s most creator-friendly band.” The band recently announced that their entire discography is now Content Free ID and DMCA strike-free, meaning that streamers can use their songs on Twitch and YouTube without fear of copyright strikes.
“Wall” is now available on streaming platforms here.
