Cooper Phillip embraces the imaginative indulgence of a crush on “Love Me Not”

Date:

Cooper Phillip is a Los Angeles-based artist who uses influences of pop and R&B to elevate her reveries on romance and emotion. She uses music to contemplate the complexities of abstract feelings. Her new single, “Love Me Not”, is about yearning for a connection that exists outside of reality. It’s about the indulgence of imagination that hits like a sugar rush, but leaves you with a cavity.

“Love Me Not” captivates with lush beats, ethereal synths, and soulful vocals that ruminate on an uncertain hope. Phillip acknowledges that the intensity of our emotions, even if only imagined, carry an undeniable weight. She reflects on the liminal state of a crush and how the pressure can only build until it breaks. “Love Me Not” is a modern lovergirl’s anthem that leans into the chaos of raw, unfiltered emotion.

Revealing more on her track, Phillip confides, “I wanted to explore a very specific emotional space – the feeling of connecting to someone in your mind before anything has actually happened in real life. It’s that in-between state where attraction, imagination, and possibility start to build a story that doesn’t fully exist yet. There’s a softness and uncertainty in that – when your thoughts begin to create meaning out of something undefined, and emotions feel real even without a real relationship taking shape. For me, the song lives in that space between imagination and reality, where feelings  can feel intense even before anything is confirmed or known.”

Cooper Phillip is passionate about exploring the duality of human nature through her music. She writes from a space between two extremes, often finding the intersections of chaos and control. Her latest release, “Love Me Not”, is yet another testament to her powerful presence as a songwriter and vocalist.
