LIVE REVIEW: Shaky Beats Festival 2018

Date:

With hot 90-degree weather and summer quickly approaching, EDM/Rap festival Shaky Beats was definitely the place to be. The four stages scattered across Central Park in Atlanta made it the perfect place to be to see the multitude of artists in this year’s star-studded lineup.

One of the earlier artists on Day 1 was Quinn XCII. He is no stranger to success with many great songs such as Flare Guns or Straightjacket off his album The Story of Us. With the crowd packed and the sun directly above, the stage was set for a great performance. He was able to bring his great vocals in songs new and old and opened up this festival with a bang.

Later that night came the Day 1 headliner everyone was waiting for, the heavily acclaimed EDM producer Marshmello. Through each song he performed, it seemed like there was not one single person in the crowd that didn’t know every song or lyric. In addition, the visual effects which included flames and confetti created a beautiful setting to end a spectacular first day.

One artist that defied expectations on Day 2 was EDM/Pop duo Bonnie X Clyde. With hits that include Bass Jam and their infectious chemistry, they were able to create a great energy throughout the crowd that spread like wildfire.

My favorite set of the whole festival was from 18-year-old producer Whethan, who has produced songs with artists like Charli XCX and Dua Lipa. With his infectious beats and boyish charm, he was able to perform a great set for the crowd at the Ponce De Leon stage.

After an impressive day 2 came the last day of the festival which wasn’t short of any excitement.DJ duo Louis The Child was one of the artists that brought tons of energy to their set. Impressive imagery and their constant energy was what made their set such a crowd pleaser.

And the last set of the festival was possibly the one of the best of the weekend. Norwegian DJ Kygo closed out the fun-filled weekend with a performance of many hits such as Stole The Show and a tribute to Avicii.
