Alternative rock band Richbreed is delivering earworm melodies in their newest single, “Nowhere to Go.”
With only 8 singles under their belt, Los Angeles-based Richbreed, born from Trou and Atla Gadret, are relying on quality over quantity. Produced by seasoned Aaron Sprinkle, known for his work on tracks from OneRepublic and Paramore, “Nowhere to Go” offers sharp audio from clear live instruments, vivid drum beats from Logan Sheppard and strong guitars and bass from Ricky Malpeli, while introducing modern synths to flesh out the transformative sound.
With an aim to deliver music that resonates with anyone, the band hopes to cultivate “a space where individuals from all backgrounds can feel embraced, recognized, and celebrated for their authentic selves.” This new track achieves just that, melding elements at pop rock’s core with modern production, offering a holistic sound for anyone to appreciate.
“Nowhere to Go” explores the urgency of needing someone and feeling aimless without them. The narrator sings, “I want you to take me to the dark side of the moon,” as he pleads for an escape, hoping this person will guide him away from his reality. His volatile yearning leads him to metaphorically “[rip his] heart out at the end of the road,” the one he chases this person down.
He describes this person as a “siren calling [his] name,” and despite her warning to stay away, she is nevertheless enchanting. Even though she warns him, he feels tethered to her, even when knowing he shouldn’t be. He sings, “chasing the high while I’m feeling the low / I’ll run away with you till there’s nowhere to go.”
Ultimately, Richbreed’s “Nowhere to Go” displays their strengths as an alt rock band relying on pop elements to cultivate energizing, anthemic tones. Including their rich sound, the band continues to shine in their figurative lyrics.
