Alt-pop sensation BENEE has returned with her new single “Sad Boiii,” released via Republic Records. After a quiet year in 2023, the New Zealand-born and Los Angeles-based artist is back, delivering another infectious track filled with summer vibes and introspective lyrics.
“Sad Boiii” blends breezy guitar chords and an island-inspired beat with BENEE’s signature heartfelt storytelling. Reflecting on a past relationship, BENEE explores the complexity of falling for a “damaged” bad boy, who hides his vulnerability behind a tough exterior. She shares, “I fall for so many of those men, and it’s draining. They don’t want to get therapy; they just want to stay with you. Don’t be fooled by the bad boy image!” The song feels light and summery, yet its meaning digs deeper into personal struggles with relationships.
Alongside the single, BENEE dropped a whimsical music video featuring Cotton the lamb, directed by Nikki Milan Houston.
Fans can catch BENEE on tour supporting Wallows across North America until September 12th and joining Olivia Rodrigo for the Australian leg of her GUTS tour in October. BENEE also made her acting debut this year in the indie film Head South, adding another exciting dimension to her creative endeavors.
