Australian pop band Vacations recently shared their newest single “Midwest”, a melancholic ode to heartbreak, ahead of their upcoming US fall tour. The track is the latest to be released via Nettwerk Music Group.

“Midwest” explores the feelings of distancing that arise prior to what feels like an imminent separation, in a remarkably cinematic way. The visual descriptions of a long roadtrip intertwine with the emotions that are slowly creeping in, almost like a conversation. The listeners can find themselves in the song, regardless of what they may be experiencing at the moment.

Musically the sound is pleasant, but with an underlying sense of sadness provided by the nature of the vocals. The mix of indie and electronic elements brings up and emotional reaction, as well as a bit of nostalgia for times that have gone by the rear view mirror.

“Midwest” is now available on all streaming platforms.
