Rosie H Sullivan appreciates life’s many “Chapters” on new single

Date:

Last month, Scottish singer-songwriter Rosie H Sullivan shared the first single from her upcoming EP. This single, “Fragments,” fit right in with her repertoire, its detailed lyrics and wistful sound adhering to her signature style, which is based on honesty and vulnerability. On the track, she expressed the pull she will always have for home, which was formerly based on the Isle of Lewis. Continuing to gear up for the release of the new EP, due in the fall, she gives us its second single about appreciating life’s moments – no matter how scary they seem.

On “Chapters,” Rosie channels the energy of Feist’s classic hit “1234,” giving us a somber and sweet folk pop track. Her innocent vocals float along to the pleasant sounds of the acoustic guitar, making the melodies pleasant and buoyant. As if reciting pure poetry, Rosie sings, “An evening full of words / A morning full of silence / A balance of life’s sweet delights / Sound of the soul and songs of the sky,” reflecting on the day. She then concludes, “Life is for the living / Dreams are for the dreaming / Hope is for the hoping / Love is for the loving / In the chapters of life,” encouraging listeners to hold onto their hopes and dreams as they go through life. Telling us more about “Chapters,” Rosie explains,

“I wrote ‘Chapters’ when I was 17. It’s been sitting, gathering dust, but I put my trust in those who believed in the song and me. A new stage of life, a new chapter, how terrifying, but how lucky and how thrilling to have that. The middle eight that was born whilst recording it in the studio, which Ross Hamilton helped me write. We brought the song alive, and I could have cried when I heard it all as one. Who knew.”

You can listen to “Chapters” on platforms like Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.

Catch Rosie on tour at the following venues in November:

Saturday, November 4: The Tooth & Claw, Inverness
Sunday, November 5: The Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh
Tuesday, November 7: The Hope & Ruin, Brighton
Wednesday, November 8: The Grace, London
