We last heard from rising singer-songwriter Reigns in February when she released “Closer Than Your Shadow” with Waives. The collaboration showcased the dynamics of both artists, with Waives’s smooth drum and bass production and Reigns’s soulful vocals. Fans agreed that this track was a moment, giving it 3.9M views and 42K likes on TikTok. With much more planned this year, including the release of her debut album and a slew of tour dates, Reigns is only getting started. She continues to make way in the music scene with the release of “Everybody Falls Apart Sometimes.”
Described by Reigns as one of the most difficult songs she has ever performed, “Everybody Falls Apart Sometimes” is a stripped-down piano ballad that touches on grief. Throughout the song, Reigns’s vocals are rich and compelling, giving much life to the words she sings. We hear lines like, “Nothing’s gonna get you when you know where the monsters hide” and “I know it hurts,” with Reigns taking on a comforting and supportive role. She reveals, “Everybody falls apart sometimes,” allowing those who are going through a tough time emotionally to process and live in their feelings.
Telling us more about “Everybody Falls Apart Sometimes,” Reigns explains,
“I went into the Karma Kabin Studio in Herne Bay after just finding out that my cousin had tragically taken his own life due to struggles with mental health. I was really struggling to get hold of my emotions, but talking about it in the session with Dee Adam and us writing this song together gave me some comfort that was difficult to find at that time. It’s taken me a few months to release it because it was difficult for me to listen to emotionally, but now I feel like it’s in honor of him, and performing it and listening to it now makes me proud to bring some awareness to mental health.”
