Kelsey Olivia is the voice of modern situationships with “I’ll Come Over”

Date:

Cleveland, Ohio, has produced our next indie pop superstar. Since she was just 17, Kelsey Olivia has been creating the soundtrack of our late-summer drives.

She debuted with her single “I H8 Strangers,” paving her path as an up-and-coming singer-songwriter, and has now built an impressive catalog of singles and two EPs.

Now, she is keeping that momentum going with her new release of her glossy new single, “I’ll Come Over.” The track perfectly captures the emotional, dizzying uncertainty of modern situationships, wrapping it all up in a glittering, high-energy package that makes you want to scream (or cry) the lyrics out while driving with the windows down.

The track kicks off with a glittery alt-pop production that feels instantly cinematic, evoking the same energy you felt as a teenager while listening to Carly Rae Jepsen for the first time. Olivia delivers her lines with energy that shimmers, navigating the complex emotions of a text or call that changes everything. It’s a song that delivers the feeling of late-night impulses when communication starts to break down between two people.

There is an addictive quality to the track that makes you feel like falling back into old habits. Olivia manages to turn a deeply vulnerable confessional into an absolute anthem for the dance floor or teenage movie montage sequence, easily making it an instant addition to every Swiftie’s summer playlist. Fans of Tate McRae can also enjoy this hymn, with similar sharp pop sensibilities, and Betty Who’s anthemic hooks.

And to finish with a flourish, the release is accompanied by the striking photography of Max Torres, adding a moody aesthetic that matches that late-night, nostalgic energy perfectly.

With plenty more music on the horizon, Kelsey Olivia is an artist to watch closely throughout her career. Ultimately, “I’ll Come Over” is a beautifully polished pop track that embraces the messiness of modern romance and situationships.
