David Wimbish and The Collection reimagine 2017 hit, “You (Taste Like Wine)”

Date:

North Carolina indie folk band David Wimbish & The Collection released a reimagined rendition of their 2017 single, “You (Taste Like Wine),” on June 6. The song was originally on the group’s second studio album, Listen to the River with a slightly faster, ska-like sound. Its rerelease is part of the group’s self-titled album, coming on July 11, which is a collection of previous works, reworked.

Frontman David Wimbish describes, “You (Taste Like Wine),” as, “a love song, to people, to the universe, to a god you don’t believe in anymore,” and, “the perfect song for a cool summer night with a new crush and the windows down.” This description certainly rings true for the new version of the song, which features a rich, expansive texture underneath a more laid back composition. Its sound is almost more mature, reminding the ear of a Ben Rector or Ben Howard type of vibe. It would fit nicely, as Wimbish mentioned, on a cool summer night, or layered underneath the din of a cozy dinner party.
