Asylums’ takes on self reflection in new single “Instant Coffee”

Date:

British pop rock band Asylums gets melancholic in “Instant Coffee”, the latest single off their upcoming new album, Signs of Life. The pop track is a slight departure from previous singles, with a brighter sound that compliments the rest of the releases from the new LP.

“Instant Coffee” paints a picture of numbness in the whirlwind of a world that seems to be falling apart, a sensation that became all too familiar in recent years. The uplifting melody takes on a nostalgic tone in contrast with the feelings of sadness the lyrics evoke. Singer Luke Branch’s vocals convey the raw emotions perfectly, making the track both soothing and thought-provoking. In turn, “Instant Coffee” quickly becomes a release for the listener as well; it is relatable in its words and calming in its sound.
