The Wombats bring their new album to NYC

This past Tuesday, Liverpool U.K. natives The Wombats brought their energetic live show to Manhattan’s Terminal 5. The three-piece band has been together for nearly twenty years, yet still manage to sound brand-new.

Clubhouse opened up the show, showcasing their incredible talent and upbeat music. The band, hailing from Ohio, released their debut album Are We Going Too Slow? this past November and have been winning over new fans ever since. Throughout their set, frontman Max Reichert kept expressing his gratitude for being able to go on tour with The Wombats and play Terminal 5, a venue he has dreamed about since he was a kid.

The Wombats finally graced the stage to the sold-out venue filled with screaming fans. They kicked off their set with “Flip Me Upside Down” from their newest album Fix Yourself, Not the World, which was released on January 14th and went straight to number one in the U.K.

If I were to describe how The Wombats play music in one word if would be this: fun. They have so much energy and each band member looks like they are having the time of their life. The bassist, Tord Øverland Knudsen, in particular kept the crowd in high spirits throughout the night with the way he moved around the stage and used his instrument as an extension of his positive spirit.

The band played through their 21 song set with precision and high energy. They have been one of my favorite bands for years, so it was special to get to hear songs like “Turn”, “Let’s Dance To Joy Division”, and “Moving To New York” at such a famous venue in New York City. The band was overjoyed to be back on tour supporting a new album and they are certainly one to see live if you haven’t already.
