Sophia Warren explores the struggle of finding confidence in new single “GRIN”

Date:

Sophia Warren—a 21-year-old Austin-based dream pop/alt pop singer-songwriter—sheds a layer of herself in “GRIN” to reveal the challenge of identifying insecurity and fear fed by self-doubt and faking confidence, and ultimately, taking the steps to move forward.

Following the release of her debut 2024 EP, Bloodstone, and 2025 single, “Static,” Warren challenges her previously established sound, inviting in energy-filled 90s grunge-inspired guitar riffs and bold, resonant vocals that emphasize her passionate perspective on this deeply personal theme. While bringing this song to life, Warren dug deep to freely reveal hidden, vulnerable emotions in an open, transformative studio space with producer Chris Coady, who has worked with artists like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio and Beach House.

In doing so, she continues to evolve her soundscape that goes beyond the surface level one track at a time—unveiling the raw truth with sounds similar to the Cocteau Twins and Slowdive, and lyricism that boldly yet delicately discusses life and love, central to her identity as an artist and woman. It takes strength to embrace a version of yourself searching for confidence beneath self-doubt, but Warren makes it clear she’s ready to “let it all go.”
