Quantum Dot release “Breaking Bones” from upcoming EP

Date:

Characterized by elements of pop, new wave, and contemporary, Quantum Dot’s music was first unleashed into the world in 2015 through their debut EP.  The following year, they released their debut LP, Deschooling Society, which generated buzz among radio stations and media outlets alike.  Their live shows proved to be just as riveting as their songs, prompting the Luxembourg act to sell out venues in Belgium, France, and Germany.  More than acquainted with their fans nearly seven years after starting out, Quantum Dot are now getting ready to release their new EP Random Causalities in October.  Before they do so, however, they are sharing the project’s first single, “Breaking Bones.”

For “Breaking Bones,” Quantum Dot have teamed up with singer-songwriter Thorunn Egilsdottir from When ‘Airy Met Fairy.  Using tectonic beats and delicate melodies to create an atmospheric Nordic sound, the trio set out for revenge.  With delicate vocals, Thorunn sings about heartbreak and why her ex better watch his back.  It all leads up to the ominous chorus, where she sings, “This is the sound you’ll hear when I’m breaking bones.”  You can check it out below.

Elaborating on the video, Quantum Dot share,

“We like the contrast between sound and meaning, and we wanted to reflect that feeling in our music video.”

Director Raphael Kindig also explains,

“Two actors depict how power has shifted over to the woman.  She’s broken-hearted but has no empathy for her former lover, whose head is kept in a cheese bell.  Whatever he did, it must have been bad…”

You can listen to “Breaking Bones” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
