Colombian singer-songwriter Loyal Lobos works with Spanish producer Kabasaki to create her Brazilian funk-infused track “Museo.” The song released on Oct. 24 along with Loyal Lobos’ new EP Loba Vol. 2.
The song begins with a light, chiming melody before Loyal Lobos begins her first verse. Kabasaki knows right when to include chill, immersive sounds in between verses and when to emphasize upbeat funk elements. The beat pairs perfectly with Loyal Lobos’ intoxicating, choppy vocals. Lyrically, Lobos, also known as Andrea Silva, unravels the complexities of passion, especially in lyrics like “Quiero tu love / Me decía que no quería / Y me la dió” in her chorus.
Full of black and white visuals, the accompanying music video for “Museo” captures the themes of Loyal Lobos’ song and EP as viewers see Loyal finding light in the darkness. Loba Vol. 2 features six tracks, including “Museo,” that experiment with sounds from various genres like pop, reggaeton, Latin rhythm, synth-pop, rock, and more. The themes explored in the LA-based artist’s latest project range from femininity and sexuality to finding self-acceptance and personal liberation. Compared to her past EPs and album Everlasting, she has grown closer to her Spanish-speaking roots.
According to Loyal Lobos, her name is meant to represent, “the delicate ferociousness of a woman,” which is evident in her music.
