One week ago today, Spotify along with Grammy award-winning rock band Deftones announced their latest single “my mind is a mountain” on Instagram. Surprising fans with an unexpected yet anticipated release, the song brings listeners on a two minute journey filled with intense chord progressions and emotionally heartfelt lyrics alluding to the feeling of what it’s like to deal with mental health.

The band goes in depth in an all inclusive interview with Apple Music Host, Interviewer and DJ Zane Lowe as they dig deep into forthcoming tenth studio album “private music”. Frontman and Lead singer Chino Moreno opens the conversation mentioning, “There’s a lot of decisions that we made while making music that sometimes were hard decisions to make..cause it went against the grain – but it’s not gonna be a bad record, it’s gonna be a good record. ”

Following, Deftones released “my mind is a mountain” music video; complimenting Chino’s spellbinding vocals with immersive black and white strobe visuals and highlighting the other members: Stephen Carpenter (lead guitarist), Abe Cunningham (drummer), and Frank Delgado (keyboardist and turntablist). In light of the video premiere, the band also uploaded a photo of former bassist Chi Cheng, commemorating his birthday.

Today, Cheng would be 55. His charm, talent, and presence will forever live on.
