Los Angeles-based indie pop outifit Wallows are one of the most iconic names in independent music today, definitively marking them as an artist to keep on your musical radar. Although Wallows became official in 2017, band members Dylan Minnette (guitars/vocals), Braden Lemasters (guitars/vocals) and Cole Preston (guitar/drums) have been writing music together since they were teenagers in 2011. After going through several band names, the group officially became known as Wallows and released their debut single as the project, “Pleaser,” in 2017. The band released a few more singles before dropping their debut EP Spring EP, the following year. In 2019, Wallows released their iconic debut album Nothing Happens, featuring several of their most famous tracks including their collab with Clairo “Are You Bored Yet?” which now has over 800 million streams on Spotify. Wallows’ sophomore LP Tell Me That It’s Over came out in 2022, and throughout these formative years the band cumulated a massive dedicated fanbase as they toured throughout 2022 and 2023 and played festivals such as Lollapalooza and Coachella and gained attention through platforms such as South By Southwest and Sirius XM.

In February 2024, Wallows released the single “Your Apartment“, the first ahead of their upcoming album. The next month the band announced that their new album Model will come out on May 24, 2024 and there will be a short film to accompany Model. Two more singles, “Bad Dream” and “A Warning”, were also released ahead of the album. Additionally, Wallows has also announced that they will embark on a massive world tour — their first ever — beginning August 6 in North America and then throughout Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand with support from BENEE. To celebrate the release of Model, Wallows will also host a series of pop up shops, listening parties and album signings throughout May in cities such as their native Los Angeles, New York, London and other locations.

As they’ve created music together for over a decade, Wallows had truly made their mark within pop music. With a signature and danceable musicality, it’s been said that their sound is a mix of alternative rock, chill indie pop and even surf punk. Taking musical inspiration from renowned acts such as The Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Arcade Fire and The Smiths, it’s no doubt that Wallows will join the ranks of these talented names as they climb the ranks into pop stardom. Their debut world tour will no doubt be a stamp on this recognition.

With a great onstage energy, dedication to their fans and even a passion for contributing to charitable organizations, not only does Wallows write the perfect music to play as you’re cruising through summer with the windows rolled down in your favorite car, but they also hold a dedication to their artistry and their fans — even through the pandemic. It’s one thing to put out the ultimate indie discography of our time, but it’s another to hold an empathetic dedication to the craft.  Ultimately, Wallows has and will continue to write the songs of our endless summer – pop-infused indie rock and roll drenched in salt water and sun.
