The Hella Mega Tour made triumphant stop to Atlanta

Date:

After pandemic delays, The Hella Mega Tour featuring Weezer, Fall Out Boy and Green Day made its triumphant 2nd stop in Atlanta, GA Tuesday July 27, 2021. Fans had to endure a bit of wet weather as The Interrupters opened up the evening, but once things started to clear up the stadium of 30,000 attendees rocked out, sang together and partied throughout the night.

The sun peeked through the clouds to shine on an impressive stage design backdrop full of neon Marshall amps as Van Halen’s “Jump” filled the stadium hyping the crowd up; the perfect lead-in to Weezer’s lead single “Hero” from their latest album Van Weezer. Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo got emotional with the crowd stating that this was the 2nd show they’ve played in front of a live audience in almost 2 years.

Fall Out Boy followed suit with the spirit of rising back up from the pandemic as they started their set with the fiery ballad “The Phoenix”. The heat outside was nothing compared to the heat coming from the stage as flames erupted through the song’s pyro choreography and from Pete Wentz’s trademark flamethrower guitar. The band continued to hype the crowd up as they followed up with a playlist of hit after hit from their immense catalog.

Just as the sun set on Truist Park, Green Day’s ‘hype bunny’ came out to lead the crowd in a sing-along to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and The Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop”. The band followed on stage shortly after, leading with fan-favorites “American Idiot’ and Holiday before bringing a fan on stage to help sing “Know Your Enemy”
