MYRA makes vibrant debut with 100% original track “stay”

Date:

Discovering music and theater at a young age, MYRA was quick to develop a passion for the arts.  As a teenager, she competed on Rising Star USA and Thailand’s Got Talent, respectfully placing sixth and first.  She then sharpened her acting ability on Broadway and television, performing as the alternate for Kim in the national tour of Miss Saigon and as Mara on Freeform’s The Bold Type.  Finding her own voice while studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MYRA knew that she wanted to release her own music someday, and that time is now.

For her debut single, “stay,” MYRA mixed organic and electric instrumentation to create a vibrant soundscape that feels both fresh and nostalgic.  She keeps things short and sweet with the lyrics, making the music the true star.  Still, as she sings, “Even though you seem so far away / I’ll keep writing songs to make you stay,” you cannot help but feel moved.  Her peaceful vocals latch onto the soulful R&B and effervescent dance vibes that emanate from the music, morphing into a style that is all her own.

Getting into specifics about the track, MYRA shared that “stay” is about “doing long distance with someone I just started dating.  It felt new and unstable, and all I could do at the time was express myself through my writing.  Because telling him via text seemed too cringe.”  Writing the track at the beginning of the pandemic in her grandparents’ house, MYRA was inspired to also produce and perform the track entirely on her own.  Her talents are on full display, and you can hear everything come together in the video below.

You can listen to “stay” on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.

You can also catch MYRA in the upcoming Netflix movie He’s All That, which is set to release next month.
