Saleka Captivates Us Again with “Mr. Incredible”

Date:

A few months ago, Saleka made her debut in the music world with the empowering R&B track, “Clarity.”  With “Clarity,” Saleka was quick to attract a fan base, as the track showcased the soulful strength and precision of her voice.  The accompanying music video for “Clarity” revealed even more of Saleka’s talents, as it featured scenes of her dancing, acting, and of course, singing her heart out.  After such a compelling introduction, it is apparent that Saleka is more than ready to dominate the charts.

Following her debut single is “Mr. Incredible,” which is sure to resonate with those who loved “Clarity.”  On “Mr. Incredible,” Saleka describes a relationship that is falling apart.  Based on the title, one can easily assume that the track would be filled with  revelations about how Mr. Incredible is not so amazing, but Saleka conveys a different narrative.  She longingly sings about wanting more of a connection with Mr. Incredible, and wishes that he would want the same.  Saleka shares, “‘Mr. Incredible’ is a song about relationships and mental health.  What it feels like to love someone who is unstable, distant, always just out of reach.  The mutual isolation, and fragmentation of self that comes from that.  Trying to find comfort and home in something that is neglected, and falling apart.”

The music video for the track is directed by Saleka’s sister, Ishana, who directed the video for “Clarity.”  Here, we stumble upon a derelict house, occupied by Saleka, Mr. Incredible, and a few suspicious dancers.  Saleka leads these dancers in a haunting routine throughout the house, while Mr. Incredible sits in various rooms and maintains his distance.  Resembling the ending to the “Clarity” video, Mr. Incredible leaves at the end of this video and walks out into the woods.  Are these two videos linked, perhaps?  You can check it out below.

“Mr. Incredible” is available on music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
