Date:

American singer-songwriter Izzy Potter has released her newest single “can’t end what never was,” a captivating story that uncovers a complicated relationship. Collaborating with esteemed engineers Josh Lovell (mix credit: Soccer Mommy, Bully) and Theo Quayle (master credit: Kevin Atwater, Alexander 23), Potter seamlessly blends indie-rock and pop influences from artists such as Lizzy McAlpine, Taylor Swift, and Maggie Rogers. Currently studying songwriting at Belmont University, Potter’s undeniable talent positions her as a rising star set for imminent success.

“can’t end what never was” begins with an acoustic progression, followed by Potter’s commanding vocals. As the song unfolds, a heavier percussive beat intertwines with resonant guitar notes. The chorus crescendos into a compelling indie rock melody as Potter sings “Can’t call you a friend, or call this mine, call this love // so how do I explain this cause // You can’t end what never really was.

“can’t end what never was” serves as a testament to Potter’s evolution in the music sphere, showcasing her exceptional songwriting prowess. The New York native is up to big things, and can be found anywhere from the Bowery Ballroom supporting indie-rock band Arcy Drive – to playing venues across Nashville venues like The East Room and Cafe Coco. No matter where she is, it is no doubt that she is on a trajectory towards success.
