DRAIN announce new album ‘…Is Your Friend’ with release of lead single “Nights Like These”

Date:

California hardcore trio DRAIN announced their third full-length album, …Is Your Friend, will be released on November 7th via Epitaph Records. The album follows 2023’s massive LIVING PROOF and expands upon the band’s strong and ever-growing presence in the hardcore scene.

DRAIN also unveiled the album’s lead single, “Nights Like These,” with the announcement. It’s a fun track that resembles the pure chaotic energy seen in the trio’s live performances. Vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro reflects on the journey that DRAIN has experienced so far in their career on this track, expressing,

“Over the last decade of doing DRAIN, I’ve been able to see the world, meet incredible people, experience all sorts of incredible highs and even a couple of lows – but most importantly, I got to do all of those things with my best friends. No matter how much we accomplish and how big we grow – we are still just a couple of friends who get to play music together, make memories all over the world, and we are SO aware of how lucky we are to do it. THAT is what “Nights Like These” is about.”

The music video, directed by Derek Rathbun, features footage from a DRAIN show with stage divers and mosh pits galore. It then cuts to the band talking about how awesome the show they just played was, with Ciaramitaro saying, “Man, I could do this forever.” The video jumps to 2055 with DRAIN’s actual fathers and uncles portraying older versions of themselves, still going just as insane as their younger counterparts onstage. It’s a sweet sentiment to both their love of performing and those who have impacted their lives. Ciaramitaro adds,

“The fact that we got to share this special night with the people who shaped us to be the men we are today – means SO much to all of us. I hope that everyone enjoys watching it as much as we all enjoyed getting to make it happen. Shout out to Stu, Frankie, and Donny!”

The meaning behind the album’s title is simple – DRAIN …Is Your Friend (unless you’re a venue security guard. Then you might not want to be friends with DRAIN). The record strives to capture the essence of DRAIN’s live shows, the band’s friendship and chemistry, and make future live performances the craziest ones yet. The entire album was tracked live with producer Jon Markson and is embedded with the catchiest choruses, heaviest mosh parts, the tastiest thrash riffs, and the most screamable DRAIN lyrics ever written.

DRAIN’s dominating presence in the modern hardcore scene has led them to new and even bigger opportunities. From touring with the likes of Blink-182, Terror and Neck Deep to headlining massive festivals, the band’s ability to make any crowd go wild is a true testament to their dedication, grit, and passion. Despite their massive success, Ciaramitaro wants one thing to remain clear, DRAIN is your friend, DRAIN was your friend, DRAIN will forever be your friend.”

DRAIN is hitting the road throughout this summer and fall across North America. The band is scheduled to play massive festivals including Vans Warped Tour, Louder Than Life, and Inkcarceration Fest. They’ll also be supporting Kublai Khan TX on their upcoming fall tour alongside Gideon and Guilt Trip. Tickets and information for these upcoming dates can be found here.
