Kacey Musgraves is the first artist to sign with the newly relaunched Nashville-based Lost Highway Records – the same label that gave her a shot back in 2011, before Same Trailer, Different Park put her on the map. In 2012, Lost Highway Records merged with Mercury Nashville, but has now returned under the leadership of John Janick. “Lost Highway believed in me when others didn’t,” Musgraves shared, “coming back now just feels right.”
Chairman & CEO of Interscope Capitol and IGA John Janick also shared his perspective on the new signing:
“Kacey exemplifies the kind of culture- shifting, left-of-center artists that Lost Highway has always been known for. Given the close relationship she’s had with both Lost Highway and Interscope, it seemed only natural for her to be the first artist signed in this new chapter.”
To mark the occasion, Kacey released a stripped-down cover of “Lost Highway,” the Hank Williams classic the label is named after. It’s a quiet, intentional nod to her roots – and a new beginning.
