daste. cruise into 2025 with new single, “Tide”

Date:

Coming out of a year of touring, Australia’s daste. has set a release date for their upcoming album dasteWORLD in conjunction with new single, “Tide.” A groovy bass line and enchanting vocal production is enough for the Queensland trio to create a bewitching song and energy.

Starting with a soft percussive rhythm, daste. enriches the soundscape with glittery synth keys, soft samples and easy brass melodies. The warm bass line establishes a colorful but slow vibe which is grounded by the shiny snare and heavily compressed tambourine. To counter the rich bass tones, a guitar is perfectly scattered throughout the song, giving the tune a nice variation which keeps listeners engaged. Some simple but gorgeous effects on the guitar is all the song needs to give a slight sharpness to the mix. Having self-produced the song, daste. highlight their understanding of how a well fulled space can shape a song.

Firmly in the space of contemporary R&B, the lyrics are kept to minimum to help bring focus to the overall production. The chorus of “Turning back the tide
/ With you by my side /
Always on my mind,” shows a relationship holding onto the nostalgia of a better and bygone time. The raspy delivery of the lyrics and vocal layering give the song a sense of space that better separates the lower and higher tones from one another. If you listen to Jungle, LEISURE or NEIL FRANCES, daste. will be a great addition to your playlists.

daste.’s dasteWORLD releases on February 19th and audiences will be able to see them live; supporting Still Woozy’s Australian tour in February before headlining in the UK in May.
