Dorian Electra takes us on a wild ride in Chicago

Date:

Texas-born, LA-based artist Dorian Electra took their audience on a wild ride at Chicago’s Metro Theatre last Saturday. Known for their experimental hyperpop and flamboyant on-stage persona, Dorian Electra did not disappoint.

Opening the show dressed head-to-toe in black leather, along with a colossal hat and Freddy Krueger-style gloves (all while surrounded by fog) Electra made us forget that we were at a concert as they brought us into their dark and twisted world.

Electra’s 20-song setlist began with “F The World,” “M’Lady,” and “Gentleman,” before playing crowd favorite “Live by the Sword” complete with Electra waving around a Medieval-style sword for the full effect.

Before performing “Mr. To You,” “Barbie Boy,” and “Guyliner,” Electra quickly changed into a new outfit and a new persona. They were still dressed head-to-toe in black, but showed much more skin with their bondage-inspired look. The performance was also amped up as two male backup dancers joined Electra on stage.

Electra shapeshifted once again with their third outfit change of the night; this time to a white ensemble inspired by Nintendo’s Bowser, complete with spikes on their shoulders. This was my favorite look of the night, and Electra owned the stage in it while performing “Emasculate,” “Ram It Down,” and “Iron Fist” before closing out the show with “My Agenda” and “Man To Man.”

But no show is complete without a memorable encore, and Electra delivered as they took the stage once more to perform “Career Boy.” They brought out a few of their furry friends who waved pride flags as Electra belted out the song and ended their performance on a high.

The My Agenda tour ends on March 2nd in Los Angeles, CA– See tour dates here.
