Lorde returns with the shining “Solar Power”

After four years of silence following 2017’s Melodrama, Lorde has returned to share the title track of her forthcoming third album Solar Power. Featuring backup vocals from Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo, “Solar Power” is a grooving three minutes that hints at a more psychedelic George Michael-esque sound from the superstar.

In writing about the new song and album to her fans, Lorde shared: “The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through. I want this album to be your summer companion, the one you pump on the drive to the beach. The one that lingers on your skin like a tan as the months get cooler again.”

While there’s no confirmed release date for Solar Power yet, it’s easily one of the most anticipated albums of 2021. Watch the video directed by Joel Kefali and Lorde below:
