What’s real and what’s fake: exploring the world of willoh’s “FASHION”

Date:

Producing music out of Springfield, Missouri, young singer-songwriter willoh has released her newest single “FASHION,” an elevation of her sonically dissonant and cutting edge production value.

EARMILK labels her music as one that “defies easy categorization, blending synth-pop, raw punk attitude, and alt-rock vibes into a shifting, avant-garde sound.” These words couldn’t be truer for this brilliant artist. From launching her self-produced album, not more than that, but more please last year to this newest single, she has proven just how intimate her relationship is with her craft.

willoh shares this about the process of creating the song:

“‘FASHION’ felt like nothing real was tangible at the time I was recording this. Like there was a constant feeling that anything good was fake.”

This song is one that may warrant a couple of listens for you to become truly immersed in the vast fantasy world within the void between sound and word. The story of “FASHION” is one of questioning “what is real?,” one that ultimately ends in a spiral of anxiety and self-doubt with lyrics like: “I feel my brain getting cold, still I don’t make sense too much / I want you desperate and cold, everything I don’t want / I can’t freaking stand it, I hate being panicked / I can’t breathe, can’t stand it, I hate being loved.”
