Sludge Mother zombifies listeners with new single “Antidote”

Date:

Grunge-rock band Sludge Mother continues their saga of excellence with their new single “Antidote.” Select fans of the band were able to receive early streaming access to the visualizer for the newest track, providing a more intimate relationship with the band.

The guitar-heavy “Antidote,” a hauntingly “grotesque” and visceral vocalization, carries itself with unique cinematography and visuals. Seemingly depicted through a different perspective of the lead singer’s life during a transformation into a zombie, the lyrics balance out the visual picture: “Fix me up / and fill my cup / Lick my wounds / I just need you / to die for me / So I don’t bleed / Lick my wounds / I just need you / to give me everything.”

Some fans pointed out that the single’s visualizer seems to have been inspired by famous film director Quentin Tarantino, who often uses teeth as symbols in his films to represent a change or confrontation occurring. This influence can definite be seen in the video as the viewer’s perspective is from the inside a mouth with rotten teeth. We also see the lead singer’s teeth falling out into a coffee cup and slowly beginning to deteriorate with hefty amounts of sugar surrounding them. Though it’s up to personal interpretation, one thing is for certain: Sludge Mother is a band worthy of recognition and praise.
