“Stressed Out” starts off with an intimate acoustic sound that feels comforting and familiar, instantly resonating with the listener. The lyrics come off as clever and satiric, while also emulating an inner dialogue that hangs over our heads: “So take me back to where it all began / You’ll find a space you can rest your head / Scribbled notions finally put to rest / It’s not the end / if you’re still searching for it.”
The song’s lyrics validate feelings of uncertainty that come with the realization that you are no longer a kid.
