Out of Brooklyn, NY, comes an indie rock song detailing the hardships of starting a relationship with someone that is still close with their ex.
The Madelines‘ newest track “Take Your Medicine” is about watching a current partner fix a relationship with their ex, and how intimidatingly tough the first few months of a new relationship can be because of it. The song uses lyrics like “you have to stop” quickly followed by “make it stop” to showcase the heartache of this relationship dynamic.
Recorded out of an apartment in Brooklyn, “Take Your Medicine” embodies The Madelines’ surf-inspired indie rock sound. The drums (Spencer Krush) and bass (Ralph Franco) blend perfectly with vocalist and songwriter Owen Tressider’s vocal performance to create something unusually upbeat. While the lyrics are about jealousy and latent anger, the song itself is the perfect combination of both bouncy and danceable for this summer season.
