OAKLND grapples with heartache in “we were different”

Date:

After being featured on top Spotify playlists including New Music Friday UK and Fresh Finds Pop, alt-pop artist OAKLND is back with a new single titled “we were different.”

Upon the single’s release on May 20, OAKLND posted a teaser on Instagram

“we were different” was inspired by a breakup video OAKLND frontman Colin McKillop saw online. Tinged by heartache, the track is a dreamy production that includes elements of The 1975, Holly Humberstone and Gracie Abrams.

Critical acclaim follows OAKLND as the project aims to become a bigger name in the alt pop space. CLASH said “fusing chillwave with R&B, each song feels like an introverted journey through the west coast, the sound of an outsider looking in.”

EARMILK added that OAKLND is “reminiscent of artists like LANY and The 1975, a burst of indie sensibilities glimmering with tinges of dream-pop”
