Have you ever stayed in a state of rumination and emotional limbo after a tumultuous breakup? The kind where two people grapple to fully move on and allow old wounds and patterns to resurface?

Ike Dweck‘s new single, “The End of Me,” encapsulates those emotions. This song breathes in the tension of blurring boundaries and disorienting feelings when you’re trying to move on, but you find yourself stuck in the past. Dweck brings a fresh folk-rock sound together with lyrics that seem like they’re from his personal diary to paint the scene of two people splitting.

His tender lyrics stand out: “oh love / you covered me in kerosene / to burn me from your memory / I would’ve died to make you see / I love you like a bad disease / if think is how it has to be / then tell them any lie you need / but don’t make me the enemy / cause that would be the end of me.” Dweck had been teasing these lyrics on his Instagram with his guitar, creating a sense of intimacy with his audience before the song’s official release.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Dweck has been building a reputation within the music industry through his introspective songwriting and his mixing of genres — mostly folk and alternative rock. His love for poetry elevates his songwriting capabilities when delving into universal topics like mental health, relationship dynamics, and personal growth and development.

Dweck will embark on his first headline run, the Safe With Me Tour, kicking off on May 10 in Seattle. Find tickets here.
