Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” will enchant you

Date:

First premiered as a commercial during the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga has released her new single “Abracadabra” off her new album Mayhem, to be released in March. Fans witnessed Gaga win a Grammy alongside Bruno Mars for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance as well as the surprise drop of her new song.

Starting off heavy on the synths, paired with warrior-like chanting, Gaga begins the song by saying, “The category is… Dance or Die.” In typical Gaga fashion, she begins the single by making listeners “uncomfortable;” she evokes energy and emotion from listeners, controlling their experience with every creative decision she makes. But the “discomfort” of “Abracadabra” is not a bad thing. In fact, Gaga’s “little monsters” welcome the creative force that she is, reminding listeners of why they fell in love with her in the first place.

Sounds reminiscent of “Vogue” by Madonna perfectly intertwined with Gaga’s “Bad Romance” era, “Abracadabra” is an immediate club classic. The weight of Lady Gaga’s music has been a dense force in modern pop culture. From supporting marginalized people to creating quality entertainment for the world, Gaga continues to uphold her unbeatable reputation with “Abracadabra.”

Many listeners agree that “Abracadabra” shares the same style of Gaga’s earlier music, transporting them back to the rise of the pop icon. The style of her new album is, in fact, reminiscent on her earlier music, bringing back sounds her OG fans crave. Lady Gaga recognizes this:

“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved.”

Gaga has been on the charts for well over a decade. From albums to tours, movies and shows, Lady Gaga reminds us she is still in touch with her roots.
