Bedroom pop singer-songwriter Linuss releases “Lets Go Swimming,” a track laced with intoxicating reverb, nostalgic 8-bit effects and lyrics to make listeners long for a past life.
Linuss is otherwise known as Michael Glines, who first broke out in the alt indie scene as the frontman of Vues in the late 2010s, landing features in popular TV series including “Neighbors” and “Home and Away.” Following the success of the band, Glines embarked on a solo career under the name Linuss in 2021 to explore more intimate, introspective concepts and transition into the bedroom pop sound.
Hailing from Los Angeles, Linuss weaves the west coast vibe into his budding discography and hit his stride in “Lets Go Swimming.” With the shimmery summer sound comes the feeling of longing, too.
“I wanted the synths and guitar to feel like the sun, melting your brain into the sand on a hot afternoon,” he explained in a press release. “So I had to just soak everything in drippy reverb and slow vibrato.”
“Beneath the story layer, it’s about exploring what went wrong and why I was left behind in the first place,” he said.
