Recent News: Released their new single “I Thought I Had It” on March 3. Will release their new EP Where I Should Be on May 8.

Through their steadfast, grungy guitar hooks and fearless vocal prowess, alt-rock outfit Red Vanilla are carving their own space in the modern indie rock circuit. Emerging from Dundee, the group is quickly becoming one of Scotland’s most exciting batch of rising stars, adamantly making their presence known through their sharp balance of explosive musicality and impressive sonic depth.

Red Vanilla just shared their new single “I Thought I Had It,” which serves as the band’s final preview of their upcoming sophomore EP Where I Should Be, out May 8. The tracks drips with grit and fiery determination, pulling heavy alt-rock inspiration from Queens of the Stone Age to deliver a song that exudes rebellion and rage.

Speaking on the new single, vocalist Anna Forsyth says, “Lyrically, the song is about the draining loop of chasing momentum as a band. Thinking you’re finally getting somewhere, then hitting another dead end.”

Forming in the midst of the pandemic, Red Vanilla knows all about perseverance. Since the release of their debut EP Days of Grey in 2024, Red Vanilla have continued to stake their claim in the rock scene. Last year found the band playing a monumental tour across Thailand, and recently Red Vanilla have been picked up by Placebo’s management team – surely a sign of greater things to come.

Red Vanilla possess an artistry molded by ’90s alt-rock and twinkling pop vocals. Carrying with them the solid, guitar-driven musicality similar to that of Foo Fighters with the ethereal glimmer of Mazzy Star, the Scottish quartet possess an artistry that demands your attention. Unafraid of both vulnerability and edginess, Red Vanilla have what it takes to become rock music’s next major act, making them a group that should remain on every avid rock fan’s musical radar.
